E-ONE Announces Acquisition of “Water Master™ - Vacuum Tankers”

Ocala, FL (April 23, 2009) – E-ONE acquired the “Water Master - Vacuum Tanker” product line from Southern Fire Equipment in Hattiesburg, MS, on Tuesday.

The unique, self-filling vacuum tankers were developed by Reggie Ridgway, a volunteer Fire Chief who spent years researching and designing the Water Master tankers after his own frustrating experiences losing homes to fires in rural areas with limited water supply.

“The inadequate conventional tanker water shuttle that my department was using required too much equipment and too many firefighters,” said Reggie Ridgway, Chief of the Central Lamar VFD and co-owner of Southern Fire Equipment, LLC.  “I looked around for a better way, saw how industry was moving their water with efficient vacuum technology, designed a vacuum tanker to suit the needs of the Fire Service and the Water Master was born.”

“Water Master” features a unique self-filling vacuum system which can load 3500 gallons of water in under 3 minutes and dump in under 2 minutes without the use of a Class A pump.

Water Master tankers can self-fill from up to three suction inlets using almost any alternative water source including ponds, rivers, lakes, ditches and swimming pools.  Tank sizes are available from 2000 to 4000 gallons and are offered with a 460 cubic feet per minute vacuum pump as standard, allowing one operator to deliver more than 250 gallons per minute in a typical three mile shuttle.

“We are excited to add Water Master, ‘the ultimate water delivery machine,’ to our full line of mission critical vehicles.  Utilizing the Water Master technology, E-ONE can now provide fire departments with the ability to deliver water to the scene from any alternative water source with more than twice the efficiency of standard tankers,” said Peter Guile, CEO of E-ONE.

“Water Master” demonstrations will be held outside the entrance to Lucas Oil Stadium during the 2009 Fire Department Instructors’ Conference.  There are currently approximately 300 Water Master vacuum tankers in service throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Reggie Ridgway, Richard O’Neal and Lance Chancellor will be joining the E-ONE team from Southern Fire Equipment, providing sales, service and training support of Water Master for the E-ONE dealer network and continuing support for Water Master’s in service.

  • E-One asked America to choose the most deserving winner and posted all 7 essays on-line at www.E-One.com so the public could vote.  The members of the Powellsville Volunteer Fire Department, outside of Ahoskie, NC, took this opportunity by storm.  The Powellsville VFD essay was actually submitted by Chief David Powell’s wife Cheryl after finding yet another Fire Connections, Inc. fire truck quote in the trash can in her kitchen after finding out they once again were not receiving any grant funds this year.  The firefighters of Powellsville met two and three times each week to organize and summon the aid of the North Carolina State Firefighters Association, the NC Veterinarians Association, Eastern NC Firemen’s Association, many local businesses, managers at Ace Hardware, Lowe’s Wal-Mart, Home Depot, neighboring Fire Departments all over NC, multiple news channels and newspapers, and even You Tube to beg for America’s vote.  The Sales and Service teams at Fire Connections, Inc, out of Rocky Mount, NC also put together a vast e-mail campaign reaching thousands of members of the Fire Service soliciting online votes and telling the Powellsville story to anyone that would listen.

E-One President and CEO, Peter Guile, invited members of all 7 finalist Fire Departments for the announcement of America’s winner at the Fire Department Instructors Conference this week in Indianapolis, IN.  In front of thousands of spectators, shortly after 3:00pm Friday, April 24th all votes were tallied and a member from each FD joined Guile on stage in front of the crowd.

Through breath-taking anticipation, the Powellsville Volunteer Fire Department was announced as America’s winner of a brand new E-One pumper.  The relentless efforts of the firefighters in Powellsville VFD and the Fire Connections team separated the votes enough to allow PVFD to win by a margin of 5,000+ votes.  Fire Chief David Powell, wife Cheryl and Assistant Chief Ralph Brinkley were all at an emotional loss of words following the announcement.  All finalists were invited to a formal dinner hosted by E-One after the close of the contest where Powell and Brinkley were still in shock that their hard work had paid off.  Fire Connections President Travis Mayo “hopes we can continue our efforts to reach out and help any and all departments in need of assistance.”

E-One’s revolutionary “Tell Us Your Story” contest has drastically increased the awareness of America’s need for help in the volunteer Fire Department world.  We all hope that this contest has opened the eyes and hearts of many.  On behalf of E-One, Fire Connections and the Powellsville Volunteer Fire Department, we sincerely thank every single voter in America for being a part of making this dream come true.
